I want to thank God for those 36 years of life of my son O. My son was the light of our life’s and he will always be that light that will never be off. He gave us strength as a family to see how many people loved and cared for him Gracias a todos por estar con nosotros en este momento tan difícil Para nosotros. El dolor siempre va estar pero nosotros vamos estar bien por que tenemos fe en Dios que Oscar está en el cielo con Dios. Te amamos mucho O siempre estás con nosotros en nosotros Corazones. ❤️

Hay lágrimas que duelen. Hay heridas que nunca llegan a cerrar. Hay abrazos que te sanan y te recomponen un poco. Hay nudos en el estómago que no se quitan.

To my cardinal football brother Oscar, when I heard the news, I was in complete shock. I couldn’t really think straight. I was in disbelief. I just had a blank stare not knowing what to do or what to say. It was hard for me to really accept that you had passed. Big O I remember the good times growing up with you throughout high school, being at coolo land and just having us all brothers together and creating that bond. And of course being able to share the field with you was an honor. You were the best! I always wanted to be able to catch those deep long bombs like you..those were amazing to watch. You were so darn fast! And the greatest high school receiver I’ve ever seen. There’s one specific memory I’ll never forget. It was at practice and for some reason I was always guarding you, I don’t know why or how but I would at least try. But I remember that Coach had came up to me one practice and told me to pester you, get on your nerves, get under your skin..I don’t know I guess to prepare you for situations like that during the game…and that I did, I remember just staying with you and not letting you pass by me, grabbing your face mask and then you grabbing my face mask and we were just going at it! That day, I earned your respect, not just on the football field but off the field as well. We were friends ever since and I think that made us closer to just be able to come together after that practice and laugh about it the next day during school. I miss you brother, I wish I had a chance to hang out with you in these past recent years, I wish that I can see you and laugh about the good old times..I want to send my condolences to your family, Oscar was one of a kind. I miss you O, may you rest in eternal paradise. Love you brother. RIP 7…

Even from a young age, Oscar had a light in him that shined bright. He was hilarious & had a gift of bringing joy to others through his humor and wit.  My sincere condolences to his wife, parents, sisters, & his many, many loved ones. May God give you strength & shine His love & grace. 

Dear Vazquez family, huge hug to you...my sincere condolences. Oscar's spirit is infinite...legacy immortal. Thank you for raising a amazing person.  After 20+ years coaching, the 2002-03 Cantwell squad is second to none. The strong camaraderie, brotherhood, and unity among the boys was the result of their leader: your son. I was blessed/lucky to coach him. I remember interviewing for a coaching position after Cantwell...when asked what my offensive scheme was, I said, "throw it up to #7"...it was that easy. Oscar's skills were as good as anyone I've coached...speed second to none. A few great athletic memories I'll never forget: 1) Oscar showed D1 powerhouse FV who the best player on the field was, as we almost upset a state powerhouse that night. 2) after inviting notoriously "fastest program" Crenshaw High to our speed tournament, Oscar embarrassed their whole team (resulting in Crenshaw hiring me to train their boys..."hey Crenshaw, I can train ya'll, but I can't duplicate Oscar Vasquez") ...and 3) witnessing Oscar embarrass everyone at the 605 All Star game (we were all so proud to watch). As a player, the kid was Hall of Fame. As a person, even better. Oscar's ability to lead, make us all laugh, and keep everyone on their toes...truly impressive...amazing athlete, and a WONDERFUL person. Oscar Vazquez will never be forgotten. I want to thank you Oscar and the Vazquez family for letting me be apart of all your family milestone events & giving me the opportunity to be a family friend of many years. One specific memory I have with Oscar, the day of his wedding to be exact. He joked around about getting his hair styled, he needed more product in his hair because it smelled so good. lol He was full of life, always joking around. We created so many memories and I wish I had more pictures to show that. Oscar was always the life of the party and he really knew how to show us a good time. One thing I will always remember about him is how much he cared for his family  and wife.. He was the protector and was willing to do anything to protect them.  You will forever be in my memory. 

I will miss you so much . I will always love you so much cousin. I remember growing up always going to visit you all every time. Even though if it was always just a pop in. You would always give me a big hug and say hi even if you were in a rush to go somewhere. Even though we were never that close and had an age gap you will always ask me how I am doing and if something interesting was going on in my life. You were always so nice to my family . Such a funny lovable person. You will always put a smile on people faces even if it was the smallest thing you did. You always had a heart of gold. I remember you explaining to me about baseball, basketball , ufc and boxing . You took the time to explain it to me even if it took a bit for me to understand. You would always make sure
 everyone was doing okay & asking if anyone needed a drink when having parties or just 
having people over. I will never forget you I promise I will make sure your family is doing okay. I will always check up on them❤️ rest in paradise until we meet again. 

Oscar’s positive and vibrant energy was very contagious. He could make me laugh in an instant.  Thank you for being my number 1 michelada fan.  Thank you for loving me unconditionally.  Thank you for always being thoughtful and considerate of everyone in your life.  I love you man, I wish I could’ve expressed it more.  I know you’re up in heaven with our creator ❤️

I am the Vazques family's photographer. I loved taking pictures of Oscar, I photographed multiple family gatherings. He was the life of the party that's for-sure! His big smile and funny personality will be extremely missed. Sharing a picture of Oscar getting down on the dance floor Man he had moves. I am sending my sincerest  sympathies to the Vazquez family and his beautiful wife.

I am at a loss of words. I have so many feelings.
My condolences go out to the entire family. Oscar has always been more than a cousin, he was like a big brother to me. He always included me & made sure I felt welcomed & safe in the Vazquez home. Oscar truly cared about his family & friends. I will always remember him smiling & laughing. Oscar took care of me like a sister, from when we were kids playing on the swings & having sleepovers to us going out as adults. The last time we went out, all of us went to Downtown Los Ángeles. I had never been & I drove. He noticed how nervous I was & made sure to stay sober so he could drive us back home safely.
I will always remember him as happy, funny, outgoing & straight up cool. I always looked up to him & when he would win his high school football games, I would be proud & say “that’s my cousin!” 
Oscar, thank you for taking care of me, thank you for the beautiful memories you left us & thank you for being there for me during the toughest time of my life. May you Rest In Peace. Go on & be with our Tia Pancha & my mommy. I like to believe they’re out there visiting lindo Mexico y querido & then coming back to continue watching over us.  

Oscar I will forever remember you like this, joyful, full of life, and ready to make everyone laugh. I hope you know how loved you were by everyone you came across. Your laughter and smile  was contagious.

I'm in disbelief, saddened, but am finding consolation in the rich memories I have with you. As I read through the memories others have shared of you, they resonate because they ring true to the Oscar I grew up with. You had a great sense of humor and had a boisterous laugh. There's a couple of major memories I have of you, most notably on the football field. Those were the happiest & most fun days of my life. The second memory I have of you is of your parents and how genuine they are. It makes sense to read from others how caring you were because that was a direct reflection of them and how I felt they cared for all of us. It was "Hey mijo! How are you doing, how's your mom & sister?", followed by un abrazo. Lastly is your sisters Beatrice & Louiza. Even as adolescents in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, I knew you cared about them a lot and took the responsibility of looking after them with the seriousness a big brother would. As siblings do, there were shouting matches, but in the end, you all still cared very much for one another. I'm so very sorry for your loss and hurt you're all experiencing. 

My sincerest condolences for the Vazquez family. My heart aches for your loss. You have gained a beautiful angel.

I am a close childhood friend of Louiza, and have had the opportunity to know her amazing family. I have such a beautiful memory of Oscar from baby Anthony’s first birthday. That day Oscar shared his huge kind heart with us. My son has a medical condition that prevents him from walking and doing many physical things yet he enjoys playing sports anytime he can. That day all the adult boys were playing baseball or batting I guess and I knew my son wanted to play so I got him close so he can have a turn. The guys pitched for him and what I remember is Oscar standing close by encouraging, cheering for him and treating him like a normal kid not more special or different. Oscar also seemed very impressed by my sons skills and the way he maneuvered himself in the chair, I can tell my son enjoyed that because he had a smirk, like that’s right I can hit a ball. Ryan had a blast that day. He was so happy that day and kept expressing how much fun he had. I know that the way Oscar treated him that day was a huge part of him enjoying himself. As a mom, that really touched my heart, it will be a memory I will cherish forever. Oscar also showed his playful side when he broke the piñata for all the kids. All the kids got excited when all the candy fell out of the piñata. He liked to make people laugh and have a good time. 

May these beautiful memories of Oscar comfort your family during this time. My prayers are with your family.

I am so honored to have been part of your beautiful family. I will never forget the first time I met Oscar. He fought so hard to win the garter!❤️ I can't express what a great man he was, he always got along with everyone and knew how to have fun. I love how full of life he was and i will never forget him singing "La Misma" he did such a great job, i had to download the song, such  a beautiful song. Thank you Oscar for bringing us all so much laughter, happiness, joy, cohesiveness and always being there for everyone. You will truly be missed.

My cousin Oscar will always be a big brother to me. Since the first day we hung out till the last, always treating me as his brother. Both our child like personality’s made a good time for both of us. Always kind and happiest when he met my then girlfriend now wife always cheering us on. When I think of a favorite memory there’s many. His young at heart soul always made you smile, chuckle, or laugh. Many times all three. He was someone in the Vazquez Home who always made me feel welcomed and made me feel at home. 

"Tiffany are you good? You want a water or something to drink" 

"You and my sister know everything that's going on in the neighborhood, you guys are worse than the señoras” 

"Tiff, Beatrice has been listening to paisa music recently and I know that it's because of you"

"Hey Tiff, how have you been? You haven't came over in a while" 

Oscar was always so kind to me and for that I will always remember him. When he’d see Beatrice on the phone he wouldn’t have to ask Beatrice who it was because he knew it was always us two comadriando.

Oscar would always tease me about a time I saw him walking. I remember it clearly. It was a weekend morning and I was with my aunt driving down Hacienda and Gale. I was in the passenger side and I seen a familiar face. I then tell my aunt “I think that’s Beatrice’s brother” so I’m trying to pay attention and he’s waiting at the light so he can cross. We then get close and I stick my hand out to wave and call out his name. Right away he recognized me and waves back. But our light turned green so we continued to drive and I waved bye. He then tells Beatrice the story. He was like “wow tiff saw me walking and didn’t offer me a ride” Well every so often he tease me about not offering him that ride. He’d tell Beatrice “que gacha tu amiga” he never let me live that one down. 

Oscar thank you for your story times, jokes, teasing, food recommendations, and most importantly the good laughs. I will hold all my memories of him so close to my heart.

Es muy díficil ver partir a a alguien que uno conoció desde su nacimiento.   Como es difícil también describir con palabras lo que el corazón siente con la perdida de alguien cercano.  Lo que si puedo decir es que Óscar fue una persona noble desde su infancia.  Y aunque no podemos entender porqué Dios se lo llevó, si puede uno agradecer a Dios por el tiempo que nos permitió disfrutar de su compañía.  We love and miss you Óscar.

One of the first times me and my cousin hung out was at this fight night my dad would take us to, and on the first night Oscar got to meet a famous Oscar! I was a fun experience to have with him. Me and my girls will miss his childlike nature and him always making us laugh. Love you primo/uncle O

Having had the opportunity to experience and play high school football alongside with you, are memories that I will FOREVER cherish.

You had a special way of supporting people through laughter, and you were always there to pump up the team! From our pregame songs, to creating videos for our homework assignments, and enjoying life, you knew how to bring a special spark into the mix.

My brother, I will never forget your humor, shining personality, and you always being there for me. One of my favorite memories of you was the last time you went to Disneyland, I remember you telling me all the things you were going to do and how your parents used to take you all the time as a kid. I saw big Oscar as a little kid that day, and it warmed my heart. You were always there for me, I remember when you found out I was driving on a flat tire, you were the one to come and save me and my car, you always had the biggest heart. You are forever going to be missed, always loved, and always have a special spot in my heart. Rest easy my brother. Love you always.

I am so saddened to hear about the passing of Oscar. My son Ralph and daughter Erica went to elementary school with him at Santa Isabel. My fondest memory was how much joy and happiness he brought to his friends during his time on the boys football team at Santa Isabel. He was one the fastest runners, always had a positive attitude and would share his joy and love of the game with my son. My heart breaks for the Vazquez family, I am truly sorry for your loss. I pray that the lord comforts you all during this difficult time.
