These two Chinese idioms always remind me of Max （his Chinese name, Great Mountain）:
1. *"開門見山" (Open the door and see the mountain)*: Many years ago, someone rang the doorbell, and when I opened the door, I was surprised to see my old friend, Great Mountain. He had quietly traveled all the way from the United States to visit me without any prior notice, which filled me with joy.
2. *"坐食山崩" (Sitting and eating until the mountain collapses)*: Every time this old friend returned to Hong Kong, he would host lavish feasts for friends and family. His generosity made me worry that one day we might eat away his fortune. So, I suggested that the next time he returned to Hong Kong for a feast, we should stand while eating to avoid "collapsing the mountain" by sitting and eating. Unfortunately, we never got the chance to "sit and eat until the mountain collapses" again!
My dear brother, I will always remember you.

Rest in peace, beloved mentor. You will always be remembered with deep gratitude and affection.

I was heartbroken to hear about Max's passing. Though we may not have seen each other often after he moved to LA, his kind spirit and genuine character left a lasting impression on me. I will always cherish our friendship and the warmth he brought to everyone around him.

Max had a way of making people feel valued and loved, and his kindness will be deeply missed. Please know that my thoughts are with you and all who loved him during this difficult time.

Dear Mrs. Wong and Family,

Wai-Shan and I have been friends for over 5 decades and he is such a wonderful man. My husband and I remembered when he picked us up from the cruise terminal and we spent a wonderful afternoon together catching up on old times about 2 years ago. These are wonderful memories we will cherish forever.
