Mary Ellen Chico Cabral was a loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, friend, and grandmother. Mary was an original resident of Chavez Ravine, and soon after, moved to Santa Fe Springs in 1951. Mary loved crocheting, cooking, crossword puzzles, and caring for her loved ones. Mary’s laugh was always the biggest in the room, and it will be dearly missed.
Mary Chico Cabral, known affectionately as Nana to myself and my cousin James Edward Cabral, graced our lives in countless ways. Nana's boundless love and care embraced us as if we were her very own, and her home was a welcoming haven that she opened to us day after day. She imparted the profound art of wholehearted love, not just through the homemade tortillas she made from scratch, but also through the invaluable moments we shared with our extended family. Family held the entirety of her heart, and we are committed to nurturing the legacy she sowed for us. Nana, you hold a special place in our hearts, and though we no longer see you, your spirit is forever felt within our hearts.
Love your Brat,
Valerie Cabral
