August 15, 1958 - February 3, 2023
Mary Ann Espiritu Santos passed away in Vacaville, CA on February 3, 2023 at the age of 64 years old. She was born on August 15, 1958, in Vigan, Ilocos Sur to Pedro and Feliza Espiritu. She was raised in Vigan with her other siblings, William Espiritu and Socorro Piamonte. She went to primary and secondary schooling in Divine Word College then she spread her wings in Manila for college in San Juan De Dios College and completed Bachelors of Science in Medical Technology.
In college, she met her classmate and mahal who will then be her devoted husband, Arnold Santos. They were married on January 19, 1980, in St. Rita, Paranaque where her husband, Arnold is from. There, they built their life together while running their own garment business of maternity wear, named after their firstborn child, “Iya’s Garments”. They were blessed with four daughters, in birth order, Maria Magnolia E. Santos, Marie Grace Eugene E. Santos-Arada (Carl Angelo Arada), Martha Katrina E. Santos, and Mikaela Alexandra E. Santos. All are proudly accomplished by completing their college degrees with licensure mostly for her diligence in organizing her family’s schedule, requirements, and needs. She nurtured and reared her family day to day from meal preparation, to making sure there was water for their shower, to scripting her husband’s voice messages.
While raising her family, she and her husband, Arnold, devoted their lives to the Lord through Pag-ibig sa Dios Catholic Community in the Philippines where they both served and led as prayer group coordinator and advising elder. They intiated and fostered community outreach activities, prayer meetings, and couples counseling seminars in various communities in Paranaque, Las Pinas and Cavite.
Their servitude and fidelity to the Lord extended here in the United States when she and her husband, Arnold also ventured into caregiving services after she completed her nursing degree and obtained her nursing license in the Philippines. While in America they co-founded a community named, Love of God Catholic Community. Its mission is to be spiritually transformed, live the Catholic faith, and share God’s love with a vision of a community of renewed Catholic families united in love and committed to following Jesus Christ.
Besides her consistent dedication and commitment to her community, she personally enjoyed cooking, watching K dramas, eating out, going to the mall, shopping especially for pajamas and jackets, and traveling with her family and friends. On land trips, she is fondly remembered to hold onto the car grab handle tightly when “dad drives too fast” and blurting out her favorite expression “Ano ba yan” while holding her phone.
Mary Ann or Tita Me-Ann to many was a wife, mother, sister, friend, and daughter to her parents and most of all to the Lord, has returned home. She has shared her generous heart with her family, friends, and community in her meaningful and purposeful life which has touched many of ours through her gregarious laughter, guidance, and love.
Please join us to celebrate her life and honor her beautiful memories as we send her off to eternal life on February 14, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM in Skyrose Chapel of Rose Hills Memorial Park at 3888 Workman Mill Road Whittier CA, 90601.
