Maria De Los Angeles Parra Silva was born on September 15, 1945, in the small town of Tecuala, Nayarit, Mexico, to Manuel Parra and Francisca Arechiga. In her early twenties she ventured to Hollywood, California seeking adventure and a better future. In 1971, she married Antonio Silva and had three children. Patricia was born in 1972, Beatriz in 1974, and Antonio in 1980.
Antonio and Maria formed a closely knit family while managing their rental property business, successfully. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this October. Maria is survived by Antonio, her husband, and their three children: Patricia, Beatriz, and Antonio, and their two grandchildren; Kyra Sophia and Silas Andreas.
Maria loved spending time with her family and friends. She cherished the time they spent together, whether it was shopping: her favorite pastime, sharing a meal, traveling, bible study, going to the Abraham Lincoln Senior’s Club or simply talking on the phone. She was best known for her sense of style, attention to detail, and generosity. Since the passing of her first grandchild, Christabella Hope, she had generously donated to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
Maria died on May 29, 2021, the result of a car accident, along with her brother-in-law, Jose Ismael Gomez, and honorary sister Mary Muro. Her loss is felt by those who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a legacy of adventure, self-discovery, and generosity that will live on with her husband, children, and grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held at Rose Hills followed by entombment at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital. https://fundraising.stjude.org/site/TR/GiftFunds/GiftFunds?px=7106017&pg=personal&fr_id=39300
