Manuel Reyes Romero was born on October 15, 1939. He was born and raised in Durango, Mexico with his family and he later decided to move to the States to pursue a better life. He lived in Hawaii, where he worked as a chef for King's Bakery. In 1988, Manuel moved to California to lead the restaurant team at King's Hawaiian Bakery & Restaurant where he trained everyone in the kitchen. In 2012, Manuel retired from King’s Hawaiian after 28 years of service. He was very well loved by the Taira's and will always remain apart of their Ohana. Manuel loved to spend time with his family and loved ones who will always remember him as a quiet, humble man with so much kindness. Aside from being a Chef, Manuel loved to have collections; he collected many items but the things he loved most were cookbooks, Grandfather antique clocks, and cars. On Sunday, March 21, 2021 Manuel passed in the presence of his loving family. He is survived by his two daughters Ana & Lola, son John, step-son Pepe, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, and siblings.
