I’m very grateful you visited me in my dreams last night. Although it has been a year since the last time we physically saw you, it reminds me you will always be with me. You may be gone, but you still live on in my heart. The memories and love can never be forgotten. Our bond was one of a kind, and I’m forever grateful I was able to be your person. My Flaco blanco, you were the protector of your siblings and your cousin Natalie. Natalie always felt safe when you were around because she knew you always had her back.

Taking it way back to my wedding day, when I came home from the salon you were the first person I saw. You liked my makeup and took the first picture with me so I could see how it all looked on camera. The sweetest little munchkin. And if I remember right, you also called me out on burping because you didn’t know that girls burp. So many of my best memories with you were when you were little, watching you all play, fight and grow up was the best. We love and miss you so much Justin! Keep watching over us and give your Tia a kiss for me 🤍

I had to take a trip down memory lane to find this oldie but goodie of us. We were each others favorites since day 1! You’ll forever be in my thoughts, memories and prayers. I’ve lost the most important  people so young but your 23 doesn’t make  sense.  Time will pass, holidays, months and years… our lives will take turns and none of it will bring you back.  But your memories and the impact you left in our hearts won’t go away and your calm cool presence will forever be felt in my heart and every time I think of you I will smile and think about the things we both shared in common. Dear Lil Justino, 

It’s really tough to sit here and think of what to say. Growing up back in the day me and you were always bonding over the same things… You made me know what it could’ve been like if I had a little brother, and in those short years I felt as if you were. I remember as if it were yesterday.. us picking our favorite Dragon Ball characters and having epic fights in the pool. I remember both of us loving baseball, loving skating, I remember us loving stuff together. It’s hard to imagine this certain future without you. I always felt like I was way older then you but the truth is I’m only 6 years older. I figured that years would fly by and one day we’d both be viejitos together.. I always believed that no matter what circumstances we were under, the one thing that we would have is time. It angers me, it confuses me.. It hurts me to come to the realization that the lifetime of memories we were supposed to create is indefinitely cut short and gone. I have no other choice but to make peace with it and it’s not easy. But the one thing that seems to lift my chin and warm my heart is an image that I know to be true in my head.. the image is you. It’s you in heaven with a cold beer in one hand and all of the family that we’ve “lost” surrounding you. Not having you here in my world hurts.. but knowing that you’re now in that world, in heaven makes me smile. I know we’ll see each other again. When we finally do I’ll most likely greet you with a light punch to the face, but a strong hug filled with love and relief quickly after. Love you Justin. Rest easy.

We didn’t know each other very long and we didn’t have as many moments that we spent together before you became a beautiful angel. Luckily your family speaks beautiful words of you and tell so many funny and warm stories about you when you were a little baby, a little boy, and a young adult. I love hearing everyone reminisce about you because even though it’s sad that you’re not here, it brings comfort to everyone’s heart to remember you. Your sweet hugs is what I can remember most. Til we can hug again Justin! Keep taking care of the family, miss you! Say hello to all the other beautiful angels up there for us.

It’s been a year since you left us and yet it feels like it’s barely been a few days. I miss you kid. I still remember your cute little smile when I would hug you and tell you how much I loved you. I remember every time you guys would come over, just how happy you’d get when we loved on you. When your tips and I would mess with you and rough you up. You were always so sweet that we could never be hard on you. Your sweet little smiles and kind heart would always melt us. 

I know that you are in the best of hands up in Heaven. That at least for me, gives me comfort. It makes my heart warm to know that you are surrounded by people who love you and we know the kind of love you’re getting because we witnessed those Angels giving you that love here.

I know that there’s nothing we can do to bring you back to us, but what we can do, is make sure that we do right so that we can one day make it to you. 

I love you papa. I miss you and I will see you one day again.
