Jack Burt Baldwin

Jack Burt Baldwin, passed away Monday, January 14, 2019 in Los Angeles California, after suffering a fall in his home. Jack was 86 years old, having been born in Bakersfield, California on October 23, 1932.

His family moved to Los Angeles, when Jack was in 4th grade. As a child, Jack raised a calf with 4H and entered it into the Los Angeles County Fair, a precursor to his life work. He graduated from Montebello High School and Cal Poly San Dimas with a Degree in Agronomy in 1955.

He met Loretta May Riggins at the First Baptist Church in Montebello and they were married on November 27, 1955. He served in the US Army from December 1955 to December 1957 at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Aurora, Colorado. In 1957 the couple moved back to California.

Jack went to work for Chevron Chemical Company selling fertilizer and pesticides to farmers. He and his family moved 13 times over 33 years with Chevron Chemical Company to Salinas, Sacramento, Tempe, El Centro, Fresno, Walnut Creek, San Jose Costa Rica and Tokyo Japan. He traveled widely to Latin America, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Europe in his job.

They returned to Walnut Creek, California where he spent his retirement. He and Loretta traveled all over the United States and Canada in his RV to compete in Dog Agility with their border collies Mysti and Dazzle. Jack also enjoyed playing golf with friends and was an avid runner. They moved to Los Angeles a year ago to be closer to their two sons and their families.

He leaves his wife of 63 years, Loretta Riggins Baldwin, His son, David Baldwin and daughter in law, Blanca Baldwin and granddaughter, Silvia Baldwin, His son Mark Baldwin, daughter in law Hannia Baldwin and granddaughter, Natalia Baldwin Leon Azzopardi with her husband Joel Azzopardi and their infant son Joaquin, and Jacks brother Kenneth Baldwin and his wife Antoinette “Dolly” Baldwin.

His Funeral Service will be at Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier, California. Friends and Family will gather at the Rainbow Chapel at 3:00pm on Saturday, January 26, 2019. Jack will be missed very much by his friends and family.
