Ida Mae Singleton (Howard) was born December 3, 1929 at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Levi Singleton, Sr. and Mable (Poole) Singleton. She attended Booker T. Washington High School in which she completed the 10th grade. She was baptized at an early age where she continue to serve for the Lord.
She married Elvie Howard, Sr. in New Orleans, La on June 25, 1949. Ida Mae decided to be a homemaker to raise her children, but later decide to become a hairdresser working out of her home.
In 1962, Ida Mae and her husband moved from New Orleans, La to Long Beach, Ca were she worked during domestic work in homes and hotels. Later she begin working for Cal State University at Long Beach as a custodian for 15 years. During this time she was a member of Christ Second Baptist Church, Long Beach, Ca. Ida and Elvie moved to Sacramento, Ca because a health reason and to be near Elvie's family. She then became a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, until God pick her to beautify his garden.
Ida Mae was preceded in death by her husband Elvie, son Mark , Daughter Brenda, Father Levi, Mother Mable, Brothers Levi, Ronald, Willie, Raymond and Louis, Sisters Anita, Joyce and Mable, Granddaughter Dwann.
She leaves to mourn her Brother Earl Singleton, New Orleans, La, 2 Sons - Elvie Howard, Jr. (Sharon) Anaheim, Ca, Tyrone Howard (Avis) Sacramento, Ca, 3 Daughters - Helena Anderson, Maui, Hawaii, Sandra Jackson (Larry) Austin, Tx, Audrey Viney (Scott) Sacramento, Ca, Step-daughter Betty Scie (Peter), New Orleans, La, 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
