Elizabeth Dee Berry, Libby, was dearly loved by her husband Wes, 3 children, 5 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was always personable and loved social and family gatherings. She could recall more birthdays than anyone you could ever meet.
Libby was born to Eunice and Dorsey Wire on December 10, 1942 in Southern California. With her parents, she grew up in Temple City, CA and attended Rosemead High School. In her youth, she was an outgoing young woman and was an active member of her local Girl Scout chapter. She was a born teacher and enjoyed “teaching” the neighborhood children from her early years. An advocate of education and lifetime learner, she was a graduate of Cal State Los Angeles. Libby went on to teach Homemaking at Mark Keppel High School, bringing her consummate cooking and homemaking skills to the classroom.
Having married Wesley Raymond Berry in June of 1964, together they raised three children, Lori, Suzy and David.
She loved connecting with her cousins and numerous friends over the year and became a fast friend to everyone she met, learning more about new acquaintances in a 5 minute conversation than many might learn over a 10 year relationship. She had an uncanny ability to ask the right questions and dig deep, right from the start. Holidays and birthdays were always special to Libby. After meeting Libby, you can be sure that she knew your birthday from that day forward.
Libby, Wes and their family had several fun and interesting activities that they enjoyed together. This included many years of riding off road vehicles, sand rails, dirt bikes and ATC’s. The family also enjoyed a great many outings in the family motor home or trailer to places like Mammoth and the dunes at Glamis or Dumont. Libby was usually all in for adventure and we even have pictures of her driving a three-wheel dirt bike or ATC. Boating in the ocean and going to their Big Bear house were other activities the family enjoyed together.
Libby also liked connecting with friends through her extensive social network and was an active member of several groups, including; Corvette Club, Women's Club, Ladies On The Go, Newcomers and Sorority. Always drawn to be engaged and serve, she spent many years in various leadership roles in all these clubs.
Of all the things Libby held dear, her faith and family were always of utmost importance. She leaves behind a significant legacy in this regard. Libby is survived by her husband, Wesley Berry, children; Lori Howe, Sue Lee and David Berry, and grandchildren; Megan Harris, Matthew Howe, Amanda Tippitt, William Tippitt, Owen Berry and great grandchildren, Berkley Harris and Jay Howe.
Libby went on to be with her Lord on December 6th, just 4 days before her 78th birthday. Always looking forward to Christmas and anticipating time with family, she already had envelopes made for everyone for Christmas 2020. What a special last gift from her!
