His father work at LA furniture in Boyle heights. His mother a housewife.
Survived by his sister Lydia Burrola, wife Cruz Munoz Martinez,two sons Edward Martinez Jr, Richard Martinez, Martinez family, Burrola family, Munoz family, Sear's Dept 176 Family.
He'd graduated from Hollenbeck Junior high school, Andrew Jackson high school, West coast trade school grocery checker.
Mr. Martinez proudly served in the US Naval Reserve, assigned to the USS Alamo ship LSD-33,his main duty was Deck Seaman ship, deployed to Realm of the Golden Dragon, ports of call Sabic Bay, Manila, Hong Kong, Okinawa, Taiwan.
On October 1962 port of Hawaii on stand by, during the Cuban missile crisis under the commander and chief John F. Kennedy. Left the Navy, but still active reserve through October 1966 and he received his honorable discharge papers.
In 1963 he worked 29 years for Sear's Roebuck co. in Boyle Heights, in the catalogue merchandise as a foreman, freight operator, fort lift operator, in the mid 1960's he'd met a Sears employee working at the clothing dept, who would become his wife of 53 years
In 1976 he worked for API security as part timer until May 1976 to provide extra money for his family.
IN 1992 He'd left Sear's due to a Lay off . But In 1992 before Sears planned the layoffs ,word was around of a possible layoff.
Edward join Inter con security in 1991 as a part timer and soon to be a full timer through 2004 retired.
His favorite sport was bowling, since he was in his teens in the 1950's at Premiere lanes. During mid 1960's he join the Sears bucks a Sears league at Beverly bowling center and other leagues around the Los Angeles area.
He'd went to CSBA State Tournament in Ventura 1983,CSBA State Tournament Stockton in 1988 -1989.
Dad always said, Sears put a roof over your head, clothes in your back and food in the table.
