Donald Wilson Sharp “Don”, 86 years old of Baldwin Park, CA passed away on December 18,2025 in the City of Glendora, CA. Don was born in Denver Township, Michigan as the son of Wilson and Mary Sharp. Don attended Clare High School but received his GED while serving in the United States Navy. After receiving his honorable discharge from service Don moved his wife Lorraine and daughter Mary from Michigan to California vowing to “never move back where he would have to shovel snow”. Don worked for General Motors at the South Gate plant and through the various plant layoffs and returns he supported his family in a variety of fashions: operating his own carpet cleaning business, investing in rental property, shared owner/operator of a dune buggy shop, maintenance operations of commercial facilities, house painting, and drywall work wherein he eventually owned and operated his personal business “Sharp Acoustics”. Don would eventually retire from General Motors via their Engine Dynamics facility. Don loved to build dune buggies and visit the sand dunes with friends and his sister Kay’s family in Arizona. To make additional funds and have fun he would restore a variety of old vehicles to their prime. However, his greatest loves were donating blood and riding motorcycles. Don first donated blood through the American Red Cross then later through the City of Hope in Duarte wherein he orchestrated many Blood Drives with his local HOG Chapter.
Don is survived by his daughters Tina (Chuck) Montoya, Mary (Gary) Johnson, Carrie (Richard) Farr, his son Maynard (Karen) Sharp and his step-daughter Elaine (Ron) Amaya, 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, his siblings Bertha Mae (Bill) Stough, Kay Whitley, Dick (Sandy) Sharp, Jean Thayer, and sister-in law Sue Sharp. Don was preceded in death of his parents Wilson and Mary Sharp, wives Lorraine and Valentina, brothers Bob and Andy along with brothers-in-law Tim Thayer and Harold Whitley.
In lieu of flowers Don would be honored to continue helping others with a donation to the City of Hope, 1500 E. Duarte Road, Duarte, CA 91010.
