It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dennis Michael Chavez Sr., beloved husband, father, and grandfather, who passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025, in Whittier, California. He was 72 years old.
Dennis was born on Saturday, June 20, 1953, at 6:50 p.m. in Los Angeles, California, at Methodist Hospital of Southern California, to Gloria Arambula and Mike Chavez. He grew up alongside his siblings, Diane and Danny.
A proud graduate of Pioneer High School, Class of 1971, Dennis briefly worked with the Rio Hondo Area Action Council, Inc. as a recruiter before beginning his lifelong career in law enforcement. In 1978, he joined the Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy Sheriff, where he served the community with dedication for more than 30 years, retiring in 2009.
On July 19, 1981, Dennis married Roxanne, and together they built a life centered on love and family. He was a proud father to his sons, Dennis Jr. and Arthur, and a cherished father-in-law to Rachel. His greatest joy came from being “Papa Dennis” to his grandchildren, Shane and Delilah, who brought him endless happiness.
Dennis will be remembered as a hardworking man who loved his family deeply and always strived to give them the very best life he could. His quiet strength, humor, and loyalty left an imprint on everyone who knew him. More than anything, Dennis’s heart belonged to his family, and the memories made together will be treasured forever.
He is survived by his wife Roxanne, sons Dennis Jr. and Arthur, daughter-in-law Rachel, grandchildren Shane and Delilah, and siblings Diane and Danny. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gloria Arambula and Mike Chavez.
Though he is no longer with us, Dennis’s love and devotion will continue to live on through his family. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him most.
