Craig M. Fox (“Mr. Fox”) passed away at the age of 65 in the city he loved and called home, San Pedro, CA. He was a fixture down in The Harbor, an inspiring and creative teacher, and a world-renowned hydraulics expert. In 2021, Craig was inducted into the Fluid Power Hall of Fame by the International Fluid Power Society, one of the youngest honorees in history. He spent much of his 41 years in hydraulics pursuing quality education in all its forms — including training design, teaching, and publishing accurate educational materials. Widely known as both a repair expert and personnel trainer in the field, Mr. Fox was a unique voice in fluid power hydraulics. Craig contributed to several industry-standard textbooks, served on the electronic technology curriculum review board for the College of the Canyons, and personally taught thousands of students. Anyone who knew him would attest that teaching came naturally to him, and that he enjoyed sharing what he knew (and even more, making sure you understood it too). Mr. Fox’s work in hydraulics took him all over the world, from the U.S. and Canada to Scotland and overseas. He embraced each new adventure with the curious and open spirit that drew so many people to him. Like his mother Lillian Fox, Craig had the gift of making you feel like he had known you all his life after only a few minutes. And he gave the best hugs.
Craig was a generous, kind, and thoughtful man; a loving brother to his sister, and a wonderful uncle to his nieces, who will always love him dearly. Craig is survived by his sister Debbie and his brother Vern; Howard Sr., Sydney, Howard Jr., Jenny, Liliana, Casey, & his many friends in San Pedro and around the world.
