She’s always been “Aunt Betty” to all of us. We spent a lot of time together as our families grew up a few houses apart in the 1950’s. Aunt Betty & Pam’s mother were the best of friends throughout their lifetime. They always found something interesting to do. Whether it was playing bridge with the ladies, crafting, or refinishing old furniture pieces, they always had fun together. Aunt Betty’s all time favorite things to do was play BINGO with her lady friends at the City Park, and going to weekly yard sales to find some newly treasured piece. Aunt Betty was sharp, funny, and always in good humor. When we’d visit Aunt Betty, she often revealed how compassionate she was by the family stories she would tell. She turned “100” years young in January. As others moved away from the neighborhood,  Aunt Betty decided to stay in the home she made for her family for 73 years.  She loved her garden and her home that was filled with many family photos and years of treasured memories. We made a few more memories with Aunt Betty in 2018 when we introduced her to my MOM. They hit it off immediately. Both were born in the 1920’s, and had many stories to tell. They both grew up during the Great Depression, graduated High School during World War II, and raised families during the 1950’s. At the end of our last visit with Aunt Betty, my MOM informed Aunt Betty, “I am always pleased to chat with women older than myself … especially ones with so many memorable experiences.” Aunt Betty responded, “Right now, at my age, I’m just glad to be able to hold a conversation:).” … Aunt Betty, we miss you already. Enjoy your sweet reunion with all of your loved ones that have gone before you.
