Two years of family celebrations, birthdays, births, weddings, gatherings. None of these are complete without you. Miss you big brother Arty-Farty. Miss you a lot

Can’t believe it’s been 2 years already. Artie will always be in my heart and memory as long as I live. He was the “big brother “ I never had. I will never forget that he used to call me “Bodeen” after the T.V. Character . It was easy to him to talk or ask about something that I was going through or needing help with a problem or decision that I needed direction for. He was always there for me. His “scolding me” or watching over me made me feel like I had a big brother. I will always remember and respect  and love him. Yes, there is a big hole in my heart for losing him, but I will always cherish his memories forever. I love and miss you Artie !!

My deepest condolences to the Serna family.
I don’t remember my childhood with out Art being in it. Durning the summer he, Steve, Hector, Fred would hang out at my house with my brother Mick.  Art quickly nicknamed me “The Brat” and I lived up to it and still do. Lol
Art was there for me when my brother, dad and mom passed away. Each time he always told me if I ever needed anything to call him.  Never did, but came close.  When we would see each other on occasion, he always seemed to know what I was doing, which to me was amazing considering it was word of mouth at the time and I don’t live in the area. Art always wanted to know about my babies (my 45 and 33 yr old babies). He was so excited when I told I was a grandma, he had the biggest Art smile and the best hug.  He also wanted make  sure I was happy and being well taken care of. And again if I need anything call him. 
It made my heart happy knowing I had a real life guardian angel.  Now 
I have an another heavenly guardian angel.
Art I know you’re rejoicing in heaven and will always watch over all your loved ones.
When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure. Art you are my treasure.

Arty-Farty! Oh how I'm gonna miss your "Happy Derby to youuu" birthday songs in that funny Arty-Farty singing voice, I looked forward to it every year! And that random call that always started out with "Cindy-Louuu, I love youuu" which was always followed with a loving message, and sometimes a request for " maybe a little capirotada".
I/we, will miss your gentle demeanor, the big smile on your face as you lovingly watched family and friends interact with eachother. Most importantly, we will all miss your HUGE, GENEROUS, LOVING & KIND HEART.
Rest well in the Loving arms of our Lord big Brother, we're all gonna miss the heck outta you 💝

My memory of Art Serna is full of Love and Happiness.
Art was a wonderful caring man. I have fond memories of Art's mentoring to many of us growing up while he was a Park and Recreation Director at Bassett Park. Art took very good care of many of us when we were very young. His mentoring and caring continued throughout many of our lives. I will miss our reunions with Art and his smile and positive conversations. Seeing Art in Las Vegas during some reunions brings memories of what a wonderful person he was. His smile and positive conversation are memories I will never forget. 
Thank you, Art, for the memories and your life changing conversations during my lifetime. 
I will always remember and never forget Art Serna.

Sending love and light to the family. The few times I was able to talk with Artie was always a pleasure. He danced with me at me and my husband’s wedding and I will never forget what he told me. “Always dress nice for Joseph and do you hair like this at least once a month.” And told me a successful marriage is made of laughter, love, and trust. I want to express my deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to Bobby, Ben, Cindy and Gloria.

I met Art when he came to work at Bassett Park, our second home. My sister and I lived across the street. He was right away friendly and personable, with a sense of humor, and looked so handsome in his BHS  varsity jacket. Unfortunately, I don't remember what year it was. All I can say is that it was in the early 70s. I have really curly hair, so right away he nicknamed me "La Kinka". I didn't know what his respsibilities were. I don't think he did either because I never saw him doing anything but sitting around looking cute in that jacket. Rest in peace, Art.

Artie was the “big brother” I never had growing up.  I remember talking to him and asking his advice on a few things that I needed help with in my early teen years. He never judged me or scolded me even though he probably should have on a few occasions. He would just look down with a smile on his face and shake his head and start his response with “Steve, Steve, Steve…..” or his nickname he gave me “Bodine”(after the character from the Beverly Hill Billy’s). He always had a smile on his face and would let out a little laugh when he saw me as if he was anticipating me to be thinking up some kind of mischief to get into.  I will miss Artie and will always have a special place in my heart and my memory for him. 

To the Serna family  I wanted to express my condolences  for the passing of Arty. I have many fond memories of him  which always brings me a smile.  He will missed and always loved.

I miss you so much!!! I’m at your house today and went by your room and you were not there! I felt your presence! I pray that you are celebrating with your Mother, Father and all the family that has left this world to paradise with our Lord!! Family was so important to you and that’s what mattered to you!! I’m going to miss talking to you and bring you those Chile relleno and Chile verde burritos!! 😢 I’m going to miss you when we go to Vegas every year for auntie Clara’s birthday!! May you rest in paradise! Praying for you and all that have gone to the eternal world! I will see you

Nino Artie,
It's taking me a few days to write something. I can't get my emotions in check long enough to put my thoughts into words. So with tears in my eyes and a very heavy heart here it is..... 

There isn't a childhood memory that I don't have you in it. Happy memories that will last me a lifetime.  From the many parties you guys had at the La Puente house (Jess and Flora). And you and Nina Clara dancing the night away.  To the afternoon naps you would have at our house. The camping trips to Crowley Lake. I can still picture the smile on your face. And hear your hearty laugh. And the ever so many conversations we had on the porch of the La Puente house.  Conversations about life, politics and funny stories about everything. So many happy, loving memories. 

You had a very strong, beautiful impact in not just my life but also my family.  

You were the heart and soul, The Godfather of the my dad's friend group.   You had a brotherly bond with my dad. I will forever be grateful for that relationship you had with him.  He misses you so much.  It breaks my heart to see my dad hurt so much right now.  But also grateful that you kept that strong friendship going since your Disco days.  

You will always and forever be in our heart and prayers Till we meet again.

For Arty, my brother, my mentor.  You guided me my whole life and watched over me every step of the way.  I carry with me in my heart the greatest love and memories of a man that was courageous, but kind, and mild mannered. First let me express my Condolences and Blessings and Love to the Serna Family... Artie, my good friend,  i first met you when you joined your brother Bobby working at Giant RV. We immediately hit it off, being the OG's on the sales floor. We spent hours every day sharing words of wisdom and laughing and joking with the rest of the sales people. You represented tremendous integrity and heart and always had my utmost respect. I will miss you my friend...gone way to soon.


Hi Clara, my name is Gilbert Valenzuela, I am so, so, sorry for your loss, I really looked up to big Art in those younger years, he was about five years older than i am. I was best friends with bob, and always used to see big Art when I'd go to the house and hang out with bob. We lived on the next block on siesta. My brother Big John, that's what they used to call him new him a little better than i did, he was best friends with Benny, so we were all kinda close friends. My prayers go out to you and your family.

Artie from the first day we met, you were always polite, well mannered and welcomed me into the “9” group with open arms. The thing I loved the most about you over the years was your compassion. You never forgot to ask me about my Mother and that meant a lot to me. So when you would ask me for a special dish at the Super-bowl party I would do it with Great Joy!
