Arammaru, lovingly known as Maru, was born on August 31, 1984, in Los Angeles County. He is survived by his parents, John and Elis Kim; his sister, Christina Kim; and brother-in-law, Jason Lee. He also leaves behind his nieces, Leah and Sarah Lee, and nephew, Elijah Lee.
After graduating from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, Maru built a successful career in architecture—a field that perfectly matched his creativity, precision, and passion. He was a project manager at BOA Architecture (2007), a project designer at MVE + Partners (2011), and an associate principal at HED (2022).
But Maru’s life was about so much more than his work. He brought joy into the kitchen by teaching others to cook, found laughter and camaraderie on the disc golf course, sought peace and adventure in camping trips, and shared his creativity through videos of his model-making. He had a gift for making every moment with friends and family feel special.
Maru was a caring son, a dependable brother, the “favorite uncle”, and a genuine friend. He lived life fully, generously, and with a heart wide open. Please join us as we celebrate his accomplishments, his laughter, his friendships, and his unwavering love for all who knew him.
Arammaru will be interred at Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, California 90601; Valley Oak Lawn; Section: 1, Lot: 1505, Grave: 4.
