Anne passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Crescencio and Julia Mendez, siblings Lucille, Arthur, Chris Mendez, and Arline Luevano.
Anne met Ted Evans when he was stationed at Lackland AFB in San Antonio. They married in 1955, spending the first few years of their marriage stationed in Oklahoma, England, Turkey, and their final assignment at Edwards AFB, CA. Their daughter, Tracy, was born while stationed in England. After retiring from the Air Force in 1968, the family made their home in Lancaster, CA. Both worked for Air Force Civilian Service for 20 years. Her husband passed away in 2015, two years later Anne moved to Hacienda Heights to live with her daughter.
Anne’s favorite pastimes were reading, crossword puzzles, listening to music, but what she loved most was spending time with her grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. She was there for every school event, piano recital, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, basketball games, and family vacations.
Anne is survived by her daughter, Tracy Nishizu (Norman), grandchildren Cameron and Devon, siblings Phil Mendez (Lourdes), John Mendez, Linda Carter (Joe), sister-in-law Ann Mendez, also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Anne will be laid to rest in Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, California 90601; Wall Of Heaven Niche Wall; Gate: 1, Section: 1, Tier: C, Niche: 23.
