As a lad, he assisted his older brother selling newspapers in Newport Beach during the summer. After graduating from Mark Keppel High School, Al served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in the Philippines during the Korean War. After four years, he returned home and went into the construction field for many years and then worked in real estate and business brokerage field until retiring.
Al dedicated himself to Christ as a teen. He attended Lake Avenue Church in Pasadena, California from the 1980’s and most recently the Water of Life Community Church while living in Fontana. Al team-taught an adult Sunday School class at Lake Avenue Church for a number of years. During this time, Al traveled to Seoul, South Korea with other Lake Avenue members for a week-long prayer conference. He was a faithful member of the Voyager’s Sunday School class at Lake Avenue as well.
As part of his quest to serve the Lord, he regularly attended Bill Gothard’s Basic Youth Conflicts Conferences. Al’s life was filled with participation in the men’s prayer meetings held on Tuesday and Saturday mornings at Lake Avenue Church. He was also active in the CBMC (Christian Business Men’s Committee) meetings in Pasadena.
Al was loving and generous and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Noel, his daughter Sherry, son-in-law Dan; son Brian, daughter-in-law Jojo; son, Kevin, daughter-in-law Cindy; son Tracy and daughter-in-law Terrie, stepsons Jonathan and Joshua; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren, his siblings Grace, Jean, Paul, David as well as numerous relatives and friends and loved ones.
Al would be quick to say as Joshua 24:15 states, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”.
