Daniel Acevedo Martinez

Daniel Acevedo Martinez, also known as Danny/Guero, born August 4, 1954, passed away June 11, 2022, at the young age of 67. Preceded in death by his parents, Miguel Nuñez Martinez (Father) and Velia Acevedo Martinez (Mother). Danny leaves behind his five children; Daniel Martinez Jr., Gabriel Martinez, Damien Martinez, Daniel Martinez, and Lauren Martinez. Siblings include: Dr. Miguel Martinez (Carol), Eliseo Martinez (Darren Judd), Velia Martinez, Betty Martinez, Alex Balderama ,Samuel Martinez (Traci) and his life partner, Delia Gomez.

Danny was born in Chihuahua, Chihuahua Mexico and lived there the first two years of his life before coming to Los Angeles with his parents. He grew up in San Gabriel, California where he graduated from San Gabriel High School in 1972. While in high school he truly enjoyed playing baseball and other sports. He continued his education at East Los Angeles College, earning his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. He spent his professional career in the telecommunications industry working with Pacific Telephone, Pacific Bell, SBC, and retired in 2004 with AT&T as a Field Manager. Danny took great pride in his work ethic and because of his achievements he was selected to throw the first pitch at a Dodgers game. Additionally, he was selected work with various celebrities and at the Academy Awards. Danny was especially proud to be selected to work with staff of the President of the United States.

Danny lived life on his terms. He enjoyed gardening, DIY projects, crossword puzzles, barbequing and eating steaks, watching classical movies, and sports. Danny played baseball in high school. Because of Danny’s talents and his exceptional ability to play good baseball he was scouted by the Cincinnati Reds Baseball Club. Danny was a huge UCLA and Dodger fan. As a Dodger fan he never missed a game and as such, he cheered when they won and scorned when they lost. Danny watched the games until the very end never lost faith. If anyone knew Danny, they would say he was thick skinned. This is because he knew that once you gained his trust, he would go the extra mile for you. Danny loved his kids and siblings, and always played the role of the protector for the ones he loved and cared about.

Danny was a homebody but enjoyed traveling. He took trips to Hawaii, Panama, New Orleans, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Washington and a took a cruise to Ensenada, Mexico. Danny spent 19 years with his partner Delia in Wilmington, California where he ultimately came to rest.

Danny will truly be missed. God has called him to his home to be with his parents where he will rest in peace.
