Amelia was born on Christmas Day, 1919 in Santa Barbara, CA to Sarah and Carlos Castillo. She was the seventh of ten children.
Amelia graduated from Jordan High School in Los Angeles in 1938 and married Jose Perez on September 21, 1940.
After raising their two daughters, Amelia worked as a nurse’s aid at Rancho Los Amigos hospital where she retired after dedicating 13 years.
Always cheerful and upbeat, Amelia exhibited natural grace and charm. Her warmth and hospitality was infectious, as those around her would attest. She loved to cook for her family and always had fresh tortillas made.
Amelia is survived by Jose, her husband of 68 years; her two daughters, Vivian of Central Point, OR and Ellen of Bellflower, CA; and by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
