Yan Pui-Quen Lee passed away peacefully on March 13, 2023 at the age of 93. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank Lee, Yan is survived by sons Victor and Tom (Maggie Cheng) Lee, daughters Helen (Patrick) Chan, Samantha (Francis) Lo, and Tina (Mark) Hinch, grandchildren Andrea (Teak) Lee, Ryan Chan, Michelle (Andrew) Runnoe, Jonathan Lo, Alexander and Philip Hinch, and great granddaughters Haley and Skylar Runnoe.
Yan was born in Kaiping, Guangdong Province, China on January 20, 1930 to a large family with two brothers and four sisters. Her childhood was spent in her family home on Xinguangli and the nearby herbal medicine store owned by her father. She moved to Hong Kong in 1950 with her husband Frank and raised five children there. In search of a more secure future for her children, she immigrated to the United States in 1976, without knowing a single word of English. She embraced the American way of life and lived in Alhambra, CA until her passing.
Yan was a homemaker who was committed to her family. She enjoyed cooking, vegetable gardening, and gathering with everyone for holidays, birthdays, weddings or a casual meal to laugh, reminisce and simply be together. The times spent with family and making sure everyone was well-fed brought her the most joy.
Yan lived a rich, long life as a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her loving nature, generosity, strength of will and family spirit will be deeply missed.
