In 1961, he married his beloved wife, Nguyet, and together they raised six children. He worked for VNCH as a translator for U.S.S.A.I.D from 1962 to 1975. Thuy came to the United States on April 23, 1975, leaving his family in Vietnam. He then attended California State University in Long Beach before working at Union Bank. In May 1981, he reunited with his wife and children in the United States, where they resided in Long Beach, CA. He continued working for Union Bank until his retirement in Anaheim, CA.
He later moved to Massachusetts in 2019 to be closer to his children. Thuy was known for being a gourmet and enjoyed all sorts of cuisines. He also loved birdwatching; rain or shine, he would make sure the bird feeder in the yard was full. Thuy also loved spending time with his grandchildren and playing all sorts of games, especially Texas Hold'em. In 2024, he decided to move with his wife to Houston, Texas, to enjoy the warm weather.
Thuy leaves behind a legacy of a loving family– his wife Nguyet Nguyen, his sister Tram Cook, his children Ngoc-Diep, Dzung, Duc, Thinh, Vuong, and Kim Chi, along with many grandchildren.
A service to honor Thuy’s life will be held on 6/12/2024, at 9 a.m. at Rose Hill 3888 Workman Mill Rd., Whittier, CA 90601. Following the service, Thuy will be laid to rest alongside his mother.
Through tough times, Thuy was a steady rock for those around him, and in good times, there are many fond memories. Thuy will be remembered lovingly and missed dearly.
