Thomas tested into one of the top high schools in Taiwan. He later received his B.A. and M.A. from the National Taiwan University.
He later went to the United States and received another Master's Degree and a PhD from the University of Chicago.
Thomas was passionate about politics and had a remarkable career in academia. He served as a lecturer at the Chinese Military Academy in Taiwan, an adjunct researcher at the Institute of American Culture, Academia Sinica, a Professor at Sun Yat-Sen University, and later became a Professor and Chair of the Political Science Department at Soochow University. He eventually became the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts at Soochow University.
In his personal life, Thomas was survived by his loving wife, Helen Kuo, his daughter Jenny Kuo, and his son Hubert Kuo. He was preceded in death by his father, Jun Kuo, and his mother, Huilan Chen.
Thomas had a variety of hobbies that he enjoyed, including watching movies, drama, period pieces, and reading about history and political science. He had a particular interest in wuxia stories. Most importantly, he loved and provided for his family.
Thomas Kuo will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
