Socorro Blanco

Socorro Blanco, a beloved, devoted Mother, Companion, Wife, Grandmother, Sister,Aunt and Friend, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2024, at the age of 89, surrounded by her family at her home in Santa Fe Springs, Ca.

Born on March 16, 1935, in Los Angeles CA, Susan was the daughter of Todulo and Sylvia Vasquez and the youngest of 9 children. After High School, Susan worked at a Los Angeles bakery where she met her future husband. Susan married Conrad Blanco,on October 7, 1951 and together they raised four wonderful children, Michael, Tony, Vickie and Susie. They were married for 48 years. Conrad passed away in 1999.

Susan dedicated over 20 years as a stay at home mom, working part-time as a

teacher’s aide for the School of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and learned to sign to communicate with her students. Her students, as grown adults, still came to visit her.

She then got a full-time job at Hughes Aircraft in Fullerton working the night shift and doing data entry for many top secret projects. Her career at Hughes Aircraft lasted 20 years and she retired in 1997.

Outside of her professional life, Susan was very social and loved attending community events and classes with her friends. She loved to cook, sing in the church choir, garden, travel and winning at the casinos. She met her next love Pete McFarland in 2003, and together they traveled and enjoyed life for 19 years.

Susan is survived by her children, Michael and wife Imkelina, Tony, Vickie and husband Paul Sharkey, Susie and Phil Huber, four grandchildren, Erica, Shawna and husband Phil Cohn, Lisa and Melissa. She was blessed with 5 beautiful great-grandchildren from Shawna and Phil, Isabel, Gavin, Elijah, Jordyn and Anya.

Susan will be remembered for her loving and gregarious nature, her strength, beauty,intelligence, spicy spirit, sense of humor, unfiltered voice, and love for her family. Her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A celebration of life for Socorro will be held Friday, May 31, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 4:00PM at Rose Hills Memorial Park - Memorial Chapel, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier,California 90601.

Socorro will be laid to rest in Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier,California 90601; Garden of Reflection Lawn; Gate: 1, Section: 14, Lot: 1965, Grave: 4.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to PIH Home Health, American Stroke Association (stroke.org) and American Diabetes Association

(diabetes.org).
