Reuben Thomas Aldapa Jr., a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, departed this world peacefully on March 3rd, 2024, at the age of 82. He was a pillar of strength and love for his family, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished.
Reuben was born on April 12th, 1941, in Los Angeles, California, to Lillian and Reuben Thomas Aldapa Sr. At a young age, he learned that hard work paid off- which led to his first job delivering the daily newspaper before school. Reuben was a graduate of Garfield High School, where he proudly associated himself with the bulldog spirit. Throughout the years, he remained connected to his alma mater, attending Dog Pound events and reunions. In 1959, he married his high school sweetheart, Donna, and together they shared a beautiful journey spanning 64 years. Reuben and Donna had four children- Reuben the third, Mark, Anthony, and Crystal.
Reuben instilled important values in those around him, emphasizing the significance of respect, punctuality, and financial responsibility. Above all, he encouraged everyone to savor the moments and find joy in life. Reuben's quick wit and playful spirit added a special touch to every interaction, making him not only a beloved family member and friend but also a source of warmth and happiness. No matter the occasion, he always had jokes on standby and would tell them to anyone around. Regardless, from stranger to family, he always wanted to make someone smile and laugh.
Whether at his cherished family home in Monterey Park or engaging in retirement activities such as gardening, traveling, and socializing with friends, Reuben radiated joy and warmth. He was present in the lives of the people he loved. One thing that he showed all eight of his grandchildren was that they all meant the world to him. In the legacy of Reuben, we find inspiration in his dedication to family, his strong principles, and the love he shared with those fortunate enough to be a part of his life.
The celebration of Reuben's life will take place on March 21st, 2024, at Rose Hills, where friends and loved ones will gather to honor his memory, share stories, and find solace in the impact he had on their lives. Though he may have left this world, Reuben's spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those fortunate enough to have known him. Rest in peace, Reuben Thomas Aldapa Jr. Your presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
He leaves behind a devoted wife, two children, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law, and a sister.
