 I have known Peter since the late 1980's.  We developed a special bonding and trust for each other.  On the evening of July 16th, I was expecting a call from my daughter.  When the phone rang, I cheerfully answered "Hel-lo", then I heard an unfamiliar voice on the other end saying "Dai Lo", a Cantonese greeting meaning Big Brother or Buddy.  I knew instantly it was Peter because he was the only one who greeted me that way.  His voice was weak but calm.  He told me not to tell anyone that he might not make it through the night.  I was stunned and speechless.  He proceeded to ask me for a couple of small favors and informed me of a few other items.  He told me he would see me again someday.  I made an attempt to be funny, "In heaven, not in hell, I hope?"  At that point, our voices were notably shaky.  I distinctly remembered we somehow just ended our conversation casually with "Okay, bye!".  I got off the phone and stared into space for a few minutes.  I was so lucky to have talked to Peter in his final moments on earth.  Peter lived a full life in a short time.  The world lost a great contributor.  I shall miss you, my dear friend.

My deepest condolences to the entire Wang family.  Our prayers are with you at this time.

憶國屏兄

今天是國屏兄離開我們的“頭七”，整整一周的日子裡，你的身影和笑容乃至你那親切的話語聲不斷浮現在我的腦海記憶中...
昨日又一次看到了你在2007年9月“春雷國樂社”成立28週年音樂會中笛子獨奏“陽明春曉”的風采，看到當時的你是那樣的意氣風發，用嫺熟，流暢歡快的技藝演奏著這首膾炙人口的臺灣名曲，你用這首樂曲敘述了你對陽明山春天的熱愛，描述著那裡的風和日麗，鳥語花香，朝氣蓬勃，令人神往的景象。你的笛藝精湛，笛聲使人振奮，精彩的演出收到眾多觀衆朋友們的熱烈反響。那場景令人陶醉，令人懷念！也令人心碎再也不能與你一同登臺同奏一曲了....

回想起上个世紀80年代中期(約1985/1986年間) 我們相識在余媽媽創建和主辦的“春雷國樂社”，你是我赴美后第一次見到的來自臺灣的專業國樂竹笛手，我們相見恨晚，你熱情的和我打招呼，我們共同聊起國樂在臺灣和大陸的發展，你對當時的民族音樂作品，以及演奏家的現狀都一一詢問和瞭解，咱們談的是那樣的投機，也讓我們彼此拉近了距離，也算是來自兩岸的專業民樂手第一次的交流吧。

1990 年代的中期，我們各自都忙於自己的事業打拼，我也漸漸離開了洛省的國樂圈，偶爾的機會我們兩人見面(多是在欣賞春雷國樂社的演出活動中)，彼此互道問候，你待人真誠，為人君子，與人為善，我們互祝對方事業發展順利，惺惺相惜。

大約6/7年前，你臨危受命，為了弘揚國樂，承接了春雷國樂社的領導職務，你广聚兩岸三地的音樂人才，克服重重困難，成功舉辦了大型音樂會，你在音樂會中身体力行，哪里需要哪里就有你的身影，舞臺上，側幕旁，臺上臺下忙碌不停. 獲得了春雷創辦人余媽媽和眾多朋友們的大力讚賞！

後樂團厲經磨難，你又與兩位同仁一起義無反顧，百折不撓，頂住壓力，堅持初心，再次揭杆而起，成立了“南加州中國國樂團”，為了宣揚國樂，支持民族音樂落地生根你毫無私心雜念，出資出力，靠著自己的努力，連續三年成功舉辦了專場音樂會，取得了傲人的業績！

2019年音樂會後，正當我們全力籌備下一年度（2020）專場音樂會時，新冠疫情大流行掀起了驚濤駭浪，使我們的排練演出日程受阻了，即使是在這般艱難困苦的困境下，你仍然是不畏不懼，支持我們積極準備著，出資出力，解決排練場地，組織排練曲目，爭取時間，待時機成熟，向洛省華人社區呈現一場“名曲名家音樂會”。但天有不測風雲，人有旦夕禍福，晴天霹靂，你被病魔擊倒了，一切都停擺了，我們失去了你這位帶領大家奮鬥前行的好團长，好兄弟！蒼天不公！讓你英年早逝，壯志未酬成終身憾事！我們痛苦萬分，我們不捨！我們悲哀嘆惜！我們深切悼念王團长，追思我們的國屏兄！願你一路走好，安息吧-我們的王團長！我們永遠緬懷你！

愁腸百結，說不盡您對我們每位成員的殷殷期盼，良苦用心；肝腸寸斷，愁緒萬千，道不完我們對您離去的萬般不捨，萬種思念。

 風華正茂的壯年，美好的理想仍待完成，而您卻永遠離我們而去，真令人痛惜。您高尚的品格，寬闊的胸襟，將永遠活在我們心中。為了國粹的延續與傳承，您永不言倦地默默耕耘。猶如燈塔，您照亮和指引著我們前進的方向。為了樂團的建立和發展，您不辭勞苦，不計得失，費盡家財，耗盡心血。您愛人如己，平易近人，言行間處處流露出您高尚的情操。您慈善心腸，時時關心著團員的溫飽，您身上總閃耀著人性的光輝。也正因為此種可移山能倒海的氣量，贏得大家的尊重，令人肅然起敬！

 可恨天妒英才，萬惡的疾病擊倒了您，我們痛失主心骨。白頭人送黑頭人，何等悲痛！親愛的團長，別怨上天的不公，您已經打完美好的仗。卸下凡間的疾苦，無須再承受頑疾的煎熬。上主已為您妥善安排，那是好得無比的天堂仙境。

 出師未捷身先死，長使英雄淚滿襟。親愛的王團長一路走好，我們永遠懷念您。

It is something that feels impossible to describe. 
Mr. Peter Wang~the president of The Chinese Music Association of Southern California , our strong supportive founder maybe taken away. The most painful goodbyes are the one that never said and never explained. A piece of our heart is forever broken. Peter, we owe you a big thank you & hugs. Your spirit will live on in the memories among us in your beloved Chinese music orchestra.  May your soul Rest In Peace. 這是一種無法言喻的感覺⋯⋯

Peter has a lot of ideas in his life, he is open minded and such a fun, easy going, and carefree person.  During our Saturday Golf group, he is always so good humored and has many clever things to say.  Our group will not be the same without Peter’s cheerful presence. I’m glad we got to travel with Peter and enjoyed great times together, from Mongolia all the way to Africa . Peter, you will truly be missed.  

Peter is someone you can call your best friend, not in the worldly sense of being your drinking buddy or business investor, but in the much more precious sense that he really cares about you and wants the best for you. 
The personal handwritten letter I got from Peter more than 30 years ago, in which he described my gifts and weaknesses and provided his wise advice about what I should do about them, is still treasured by me. Over the years I have read the letter numerous times and have benefitted from the deep caring and sincere advice of Peter. 
"Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart." 1Peter 1:22. That verse described the Peter Wang I know. See you in God's Kingdom, Peter, my best friend!


记得我们曾经一起演出的日子，记得你说的“我要辞去房屋检查官的工作，下海开建筑公司了！”，后来就成了一个为众人抱薪者，为宏扬中国民族音乐出钱出力，贡献卓越！我的油管里珍藏着这首王国屏的笛子独奏“阳明春晓”！阳明山的四季鲜花盛开，迎接您王团长魂归故里，一路走好[Worship][Worship][Worship]乐友唐艳文.                                                                                           I remember the days when we performed together and you said, "I'm going to quit my job as a housing inspector and start a my own construction company!" .Few years  later, you became a sponsor and supporter for Chinese tMusic, you became the president of Chinese Music Association of Southern California! Life is really short, looking at these beautiful photos, have to sigh life is so fragile. Kuo -Ping  Wang, with his love of folk music, silently support the development and growth of the orchestra. Now his passing makes us very sad, but he lives deeply in the hearts of every member of our orchestra.

Peter was a little fire cracker, feisty and full of passion when it came to his profession, he will be gravely missed.

Mr. Kim and I have known Peter Wang for more than 20 years.  Mr. Wang is a knowledgeable person in the construction fields and has wisdom in life. Mr. Wang has explained easily for us to understand construction field; how generous and kind he was. Mr. Wang had given lots of encouragements and compliments to my daughters; they miss him. We have lost a great person, feel sorrow,  and are think of him at this moment.  Rest in great peace!

I met Peter 11 years ago during my first time golfing. Since then we’ve been playing golf at least once a week together. We even travelled to many out of state places to play golf and created so many happy and fun memories . Now that Peter is not here anymore and I lost a close friend . Thank you for all the wonderful memories , Peter . I hope you are enjoying your time in Haven being your cheerful and good - humored self just as you always are . I will miss you greatly my dear friend

When I first met Peter at the City of Hawthorne, his first words to me was that "he would be reincarnated as a black guy, because they are tall handsome, and can dance."  My reply was "Peter, you must be out of your mind, and there are a lot of Asian men that all tall, handsome and can dance, just look at BTS."  We both started laughing historically.  I liked him from that point on.  Serious, when my son came to the office with me, I introduced him to Peter.  Peter said what a handsome young man and give him some great advise, such as be happy at whatever you do no matter what.  Peter and I shared a lot of father and son moments, and I thank him profoundly for his advise, guidance and new perspective on how to do things differently.  I know Peter wished he would have done things differently with his boys and told me to be patient and let him find his way.  As long as you(me) provide the foundation on how to be a good citizen and teach good morale's values and ethics things will turn out okay.  I am still following Peter's advise today with my 16 year old son. I must admit, it's hard sometimes.  Peter you will be missed and I know you are smiling down on your family and friends with your candid advise.  My God bless your soul and your family.  I love you and will miss you man.
