Marta Linda Sanchez was born in Los Angeles, California, to Baldemar and Ofelia Sanchez. Linda was raised in El Monte, California, graduating from El Monte High School in 1970 where she was deeply involved as Prom Queen, Young Americans in Concert, and Cheer. She then attended Cal State Los Angeles earning bachelor's and master’s degrees in education to become a credentialed teacher. CalState LA is where she met her husband of 40 years, Ron Ramirez. The two remained inseparable while raising their two sons in Danville, CA and eventually spent their retirement years in Murrieta, CA beginning in 2013. They enjoyed local day trips around southern California and traveling, which is something Linda enjoyed and did throughout her life as a student and then with her family.
Linda led an incredible life of giving, guiding, and protecting. She was an accomplished teacher and resource education specialist at Payne Elementary in El Monte, CA and later with Valley View Middle School in Pleasant Hill, CA where she was awarded California’s highest education honors for a distinguished school and received "Outstanding Educator" or "Teacher of the Year" honors in 1994, 2000 and 2006. Linda was known as a compassionate teacher, and healer, consistently going above and beyond for her students and was a leader amongst her fellow teachers. Her kindness, warmth, and generosity made ripples with those who were around her.
Linda was a precious and loving wife, mother, sister, cousin and friend. She is survived by her husband, Ron, her two sons Andre (36) & Christopher (33), her two brothers Edwin and Jr., and her granddaughter Avery (9) - who adored her grandmother. Linda was a fun loving grandmother, who was always up for a good time and shared an affinity for red licorice with her granddaughter.
Linda will be buried at Rose Hills in Whittier, CA in a private ceremony due to her own recognition of the severity and pain Covid continues to cause during the holiday season. A larger Celebration of Life will be scheduled around southern California in the February 2022 timeframe.
