Marilyn was born on April 2, 1951, in Los Angeles, California. She is the daughter of the late Mike and Joanne Azlen. She was baptized at the Apostolic Christian Church La Puente (CA).
Marilyn will forever be remembered for the great love she had for her son, Elliott, get-togethers with her family and her unending love of music. She also had a great love for reading her Bible and inspirational and uplifting books. She didn’t waste this knowledge. When out shopping or eating out, Marilyn did not hesitate to reach out to others to share her love and God’s Word - the response was heart-warming!
When Marilyn was in high school, an FBI agent visited her classroom scouting for candidates who were interested to train for work at the FBI after graduation. She accepted the challenge and was chosen and hired to work for FBI after graduation.
Her love of music was unending. There was no family gathering without bringing out the instruments (accordions and mouth organs). Before learning piano, she played a full-size pedal-style organ and brought out the base sounds like no other. When violins, cellos and clarinets entered our family gatherings, she was in her glory!
She was entrepreneurial. She operated her own booth in a store with the many, many beautiful hand-made items she offered.
Because she suffered much with her own illnesses, she could relate to those in pain or who were down. She always had a heart for the hurting and never hesitated to offer whatever help she could to ease the pain. In her last couple of months she lost movement of her right arm and then her speech. That didn’t stop her. She continued to respond, to laugh and yes, even to sing up to her last moments one of her favorite songs from youth – I Am Going To a City, Where The Roses Never Fade. Marilyn is now in that City – Where The Roses Never Fade!
Marilyn was preceded in death by her loving parents, Mike and Joanne Azlen, her beloved son, Elliott Lukich, and her beloved brother, Michael Brian Azlen.
Marilyn is survived by her beloved sisters, Diane (Stan) Branovacki and Shirley (Ted) Mohan, as well as by many cherished and beloved nieces and nephews.
