Luke was born on August 1, 1933, in Yentai, China. He was the third child amongst four siblings. As a teenager his family moved to Hong Kong for several years and then emigrated to Sao Paulo, Brazil. Later in Sao Paulo, he met his future wife, Julie Woo, and they were married in 1957. Their son, Leonard, was born in 1958. The family emigrated to Southern California in 1963 where he and Julie have resided since.
He graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Pepperdine University in 1968 and later earned his Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University in 1979. He worked for General Telephone & Electronics Corporation in Santa Monica starting in 1968. He was a systems analyst and held middle manager positions until his retirement in 1988. He served in the US Navy Reserve for over 20 years and was discharged honorably.
He is survived by his wife, Julie, son, Leonard Liu, daughter-in-law, Nancy Liu, three grandchildren, Gabriel Liu, Taylor Liu and Alexandra Liu Obrecht, grandson-in-law, Nate Obrecht and his great granddaughter, Stella Obrecht.
He went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus, on August 17, 2024.
A funeral service for Luke will be held Friday, August 30, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hua Yuan, 3890 Workman Mill Road, Whittier, California 90601. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, California 90601.
