As a young man he served in the Merchant Marines for a short time, then the US Air Force for nearly 21 years. After his military service he took a job with the US Postal Service and worked in the Harbor City, CA office until he retired 27 years later.
He also volunteered as a van driver for both the Braille Institute of America and the American Cancer Society for a number of years.
An avid cyclist, Lloyd peddled tens of thousands of miles during the course of his life and enjoyed telling numerous stories about his self powered travels on 2 wheels. He also really enjoyed walking up to a complete stranger, telling a corny joke and making them laugh.
He was a loving father and grandfather and is survived by his wife, 3 children, 3 grand children and 3 great grand children.
