Linda was born Linda Lee Hylton on February 27, 1956 to Delmer and Norma Jean Hylton in Lakewood, California. After Linda graduated from Mayfair High School in 1974, she went on to study social sciences at Cerritos College, earning her degree in 1979.
After graduating, Linda started a career as a receptionist, bookkeeper, and administrative professional. Her career brought her many new experiences and friends for the next 30 years.
In 1983, Linda began the role that meant more to her than all the rest, as she became a mom to Brent Eugene Barrett. She was a caring, warm, adventurous mother and friend, guiding Brent through his childhood as a team mom, church and school trip chaperone, and road trip driver.
When Linda retired, she spent her time continuing to care for others. She was an active volunteer and advocate for the causes she cared most about. A life-long subscriber to her Presbyterian faith, Linda made it her life’s goal to stay active in the pursuit of helping others, including children and animals.
Linda Barrett was predeceased by her parents and brothers, Delmer, Norma, Danny, and Gary Hylton. She is survived by her sister, Sally D’Amour, and her son, Brent Barrett.
Services for Linda will be held at Rose Hills Memorial Park on Friday, June 21, 2024 at 3:00pm.
