Jerry was born on June 4, 1938, in Fairplay, Colorado. By the age of 5, Jerry his brother Michael, and his parents had lived in the eleven western states including Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. Jerry’s boyhood memories included exploring the great outdoors, fishing, playing baseball, being mischievous and making the girls go crazy with his blue eyes and funny personality (he was a jokester).
Jerry graduated from El Monte High School, California, in 1956. Shortly after graduation, in 1957, he enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country as a signal corpsman. After he got out of the service, he had various jobs as a gas station attendant, fence builder and cutting meat. His last place of employment with whom he retired was with Konica in 2003. Konica recognized him as one of the top photocopy technicians in the company. He was dedicated to his craft and knew the value of hard work.
Jerry had a great sense of humor and always greeted everyone with a smile. He enjoyed working on cars, playing the harmonica, fishing and telling jokes. He especially loved a good breakfast at Tepeyac Café and Flo’s.
Jerry is predeceased by his wife, Maria Dooner, stepsons Al Zeledon and Alex Zeledon, his brother Michael Gene Dooner, mother Helen Georgia Dooner, and father Michael Foy Dooner.
Jerry is survived by his daughters Pamela (Chris) Alonzo and Debora Miller; stepsons Martin Zeledon, Bill Zeledon, Rudy Zeledon and Joe Zeledon and 5 grandchildren, Nicholas, Donovan, Cassidy, Brandon and Precious.
A graveside service will be held at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, California on September 9, 2024 at 9:00 a.m.
