He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, survived by his wife, Heyoung; his sons, Min and Hyun; his daughter, Amie Eunah; his grandsons, Junyoung, Minyoung, Haram and Yein; and his granddaughter, Hannah.
After working as a chemical engineer for various companies, he founded his own company, Dongyang Insulation, in 1975, and served as its CEO until he moved to the United States in 1999. In his retirement, he kept busy by taking care of his family and the church.
A sincere follower of Jesus, he dedicated his life to God’s kingdom. He was actively engaged in his churches as a deacon, elder, and Bible teacher. He had a passion for leading Bible studies and helping others grow in their faith. He was also a founding member of Onnuri Presbyterian Church, one of the largest and most influential evangelical churches in Korea.
As a man of faith, he consistently endeavored to live in the footsteps of Jesus, striving to emulate Him. Jai Kyu Hwang was an exceptional Christian whose influence will be enduringly felt by his family and all those whose lives he touched.
A memorial service for Jai Kyu will be held Friday, September 1, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Rose Hills Memorial Park - SkyRose Chapel, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, California 90601.
