It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our father, Gilbert Jesse Saavedra. He left us on September 13, 2024, at the age of 73. Despite spending his last couple of years secretly battling health ailments, he kept his wit and humor while cherishing every moment with his loved ones. He spent much of his life coaching his children and grandchildren over 30 years at St. Paul High School, working with their softball and baseball teams. His family survives him: his mother, Carmen Savedra; the mother of his children, Beatriz Arredondo; his children, Lorraine Alcala, Audrey Zaragoza, Vincent Saavedra, and Phillip Saavedra; his grandchildren Matthew Alcala, Andrew Alcala, Joseph Zaragoza, Joshua Zaragoza, Samantha Zaragoza, and Elise Saavedra.
A visitation in chapel for Gilbert will be held Monday, September 23, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Rose Hills Memorial Park - Hillside Chapel, Gate 17, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, California 90601. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, September 24, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Our Lady Of Miraculous, 820 North Garfield Avenue, Montebello, California 90640-1607.
Gilbert will be laid to rest in Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, California 90601; Prado De Los Arboles; Gate: 1, Section: 4, Lot: 2112, Grave: 4.
