Gerald George Matsui, beloved son, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed peacefully from this life on August 18th, 2021 at the age of 76. Gerald was born in Denver, Colorado on September 7, 1944, the son of George and Virginia Matsui. As a young man Gerald was an Eagle Scout and a high school basketball player at Dorsey High School in Los Angeles. After becoming a father, Gerald started a career in auto body repair that spanned more than 40 years at places including Casa de Cadillac in Sherman Oaks and the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
Gerry, as he was known to his friends, was an avid outdoor enthusiast, shooter, fisherman and hunter. He loved the lakes and streams of the Sierras and hunted and fished California and the Western United States. He was a conscientious, humane and skillful hunter and fisherman.
Gerry's family and friends will miss his kindness and easy humor. He passed from this life as he entered, a simple son of Christ.
Gerry is survived by his brother Calvin, sons Douglas and Eric, nephew Ryan, niece Leah, grand-niece Ashlynn, grand-daughters Madeline, Alexandra, Kendra, Kara and Kathryn, and many loving friends and extended family members.
