George Thomas Chronis

January 15, 1935-March 31, 2015

George Thomas Chronis passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at his home in Canyon Lake, California. George was born in Los Angeles CA to Greek immigrant George K. Chronis and German immigrant Elma Haupt. He is proudly remembered as a Montebello High School Hall of Fame Athlete, a 42-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A.) and former owner/operator of Chronis Famous Sandwich Shop, a Los Angeles landmark.

George leaves behind a large, loving family as well as an A.A. extended family. He is survived by his wife Pat, his sister Kathy, his children Bonnie, Tracey, Tom, Lori and Dan, their spouses Jon, Vicky, Ramona and Pat’s children Tom, Shawn and Colleen. He was also a doting grandfather to 23 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Services for George will be held at 11:00 am, April 8, 2015 at Hillside Chapel in Rose Hills. A “Tailgate Party” will follow the graveside service at Chronis Famous Sandwich Shop, 5825 Whittier Blvd., Los Angeles, CA.
