Earle Wallace Alford, age 92, passed away August 4, 2021, in Mission Viejo, California. Earle was born October 23, 1928, in Hollywood, California, to George Earle Alford and Edna Osborn Peabody. Earle married his high school sweetheart, June Delores Springer, September 9, 1950. He is the father of Diane Alford-Lovison, Lisa Alford-Leach, Marta Alford (William Moyer), and Joshua Alford (Christy).
Earle was drafted into the Army in October of 1950 and served in the Army Corp of Engineers designing air strips during the Korean conflict. After honorable discharge from the Army, he went to the USC Viterbi School of Engineering. Earle started his career at Bechtel Engineering shortly after graduating in 1956.
In 1961 Earle and June began attending San Gabriel Union Church. Earle was an active member serving as a deacon for many years and was on the church school board. In 1972 a new church was formed, Christian Center, from a Bible study in the Alfords’ home. The church grew and moved to the first building in Temple City. After many years of leasing facilities, Christian Center moved to a new location in Arcadia, after Earle remodeled a bowling alley for church use.
Earle was an entrepreneur, always looking for a way to make a dollar and provide a service. EWA Engineering and Construction was one of several businesses. Business was his hobby. He was a “people” person and liked to talk and converse with individuals. He shared his beaming smile and positive energy with everyone he met, whether that person was a CEO or someone who was homeless and asking for a buck.
Earle is the loved Grandfather of Leah Lovison Wendt, Joel Lovison (Aleta), Heather Irwin (Jeff), Stephanie Voirol (Brad), Jimmy Sprouse, Grayson Alford, and Hendrix Alford. The Great Grandfather of Ryan Irwin, Lexi Irwin, Gavin Wendt, Lily Lovison, Kinsley Irwin, Jordan Irwin, Justin Voirol, Mina Rose Lovison, and Hailey Voirol.
