Family and friends gather for a group shot in front of his mother's home in Mount Washington.  His mother hosted the family gatherings for special occasions and holiday meals.  She was a fabulous cook, who labored many hours in the kitchen, to prepare traditional Chinese sweet and savory steamed and fried dumpling, and in the backyard, to cook the main dishes in a 30-inch wok on the 150,000 BTU natural gas burner.  His wife, Kathy, and two boys, Bryan and Jeffery, can be seen in the photo.  Donald was the chef in his family and had some of the cooking skills of his mother.

A studio portrait of a young Donald and his sister, Susan.  Restrictive immigration laws prevented immigrant families from bringing adopted children to America. The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 emphasized family reunification and thus permitted immigrant families to bring in their adopted children.  This photo was crucial evidence to prove to the immigration services that his father adopted him as a young boy.  He was allowed to emigrate to America in the mid-60s.  Donald was separated from his closest family members for about 13 years. He first saw his parents as young boy then later as a young man.

Donald as an older teen or young adult, probably taken in Hong Kong.  After living with the Ng family for a few years, he moved to Hong Kong, and lived temporarily with the Wing Yee family.  Later, he was placed under the care of a Christian missionary, Miss Hitchcock(?), for many years.  I believe that she greatly influenced Donald's conversion to the Christian faith.

Donald at his second childhood home as a member of the Yue family, 2007.  Donald and his sister are seen standing in front of the Ng residence in a nearby town.  Circa 1952, Susan left China to emigrate to America, and his uncle arrived from America and moved his family and grandmother out of the family dwelling to a place in big town.  With no one to care for him in the village, his grandmother placed him under the care of the Ng family, his aunt, (mother's sister).

Donald at his first childhood home as a member of the Yue family, 2007.  Donald and his sister, Susan, are seen burning spirit money or ghost money in a traditional Chinese ancestor worship ceremony in the common area of the family dwelling.   He was adopted into the Yue family when he was about 6 years old circa 1947 during the time his father returned to the village from America. The dwelling was divided into three parts, the middle was the common area, the area closest to the alleyway was occupied by Donald, his mother, sister, and grandmother (father's mother), and the area facing the village perimeter was occupied by his uncle's family (father's brother). In early 1948 his father and fully pregnant mother left China for America.
