In loving memory of Dolores Melendrez Curiel, age 94, of Baldwin Park, California passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 31, 2024. She was born February 16, 1930, in Santa Ana, California and is one of 11 children. Dolores went back to Mexicali, Baja California with her parents at the age of four years and was raised there. She had an education till 6th grade. After this she worked in the fields picking cotton. She would pick up to 100 kilos a day.
Dolores came back to the United States in the 1950’s. She came to live with her Aunt Maria Sifuentes and her Grandma Josefa. She started to work and to raise money to buy a house so she can bring her mom and family to the United States. She immigrated most of all her siblings and helped raise the younger ones. She lived in Baldwin Park for over 65 years.
Dolores is survived by 4 children, 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren. She was a family orientated woman, and all her traditions were instilled to all her children. She believed in the unity of a family and always making sure that we remained close. Dolores absolutely loved when all her children got together for special events or just because. The joy on her face when everyone was together was an image her family will never forget. The random visits from extended family would brighten her day. She loved reminiscing on her childhood memories and sharing stories with whoever was visiting,
A visitation in chapel for Dolores will be held Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Rose Hills Memorial Park - Hillside Chapel, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, California 90601. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, September 18, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Louis of France Catholic Church, 13935 Temple Ave, La Puente, California 91746-2098. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, September 18, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, California 90601.
