Jean was the daughter of the late Chao Han Lee and the late Jen Chao Wang. Survivors include her daughter Layla and husband Murray, her daughter Mei-Mei, fiancé Peter, and grandson Jaden, and her son Tom, daughter-in-law Susan, grandson Jonathan, and granddaughter Isabelle. Jean was married to the late Chia Chun Wang.
Jean graduated from high school in Taiwan in 1951 and completed her Bachelor of Science degree at Chapman College in 1980. Jean loved taking care of newborns during her career as a Registered Nurse in Obstetrics/Gynecology at Kaiser Permanente Hospital for over 30 years. She mostly worked as a NICU nurse for neonatal conditions of all types at Kaiser Permanente Hospital and also worked for other hospitals such as the UCLA Hospital as a locum tenens nurse.
Jean will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving and caring person. Jean loved to garden, sew, and knit. She grew roses in her later years, with many roses in her front yard and back yard. She hand sewed or knitted clothing for her children when they were young. Jean loved to travel, including taking trips to China and Europe. Jean always enjoyed visiting museums, art collections, and botanical gardens worldwide. She enjoyed hiking and was part of the local Palos Verdes Sierra Club chapter, including organizing hikes around the hills in Palos Verdes Peninsula and organizing their social hours. Jean loved meeting with friends and family for meals at a restaurant. Her favorite desserts were cheesecake and ice cream.
Jean’s funeral will be held at the Hillside Chapel in the Rose Hills Memorial Garden on Saturday, July 8th from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Rose Hills Memorial Garden is in charge of the arrangements. Flowers can be sent in care of the Rose Hills Memorial Garden for Chang Jean Wang.
