Carol Ann Spencer, 78, an inspiring educator passed away on April 15, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of knowledge and love. Born on November 29th, 1945, in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Carol was raised in a loving family surrounded by her siblings: Richard, David, Bill, Larry, Linda, Darlene, and Sylvia. She pursued her passion for education and inspired countless students teaching them the value of hard work and dedication throughout her career.
She was a proud graduate of Pasadena Nazarene College her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Education in 1967; her California Teaching Credential—Secondary Education in 1969; and her Master of Arts degree from California State University, Los Angeles in 1979. She also had two California Community College Credentials: one in Office Services & Related Technologies (1981) and the other in Accounting (1985).
In addition to teaching Business Education and sometimes English at Baldwin Park High School from1969 to 2000, Carol also taught accounting at Mt. San Antonio College and various other colleges teaching “day and night” for most of her career.
Carol is survived by her loving husband Gary Eugene Spencer and their blended family of three grown children, Marvin (Elizabeth) Spencer, David (Ellen) Spencer, and Shari (Alan McNeil), and their grandchildren Amanda Smiley, Emily Spencer, Christopher Spencer, Mary Thomas, Jennifer Spencer, Kimberly Spencer, and Stephanie Goodsell. Gary and Carol also have six great grandchildren in age order: AJ, Kaitlyn, Sam, Alex, Max, and Damien. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Richard B. and Beulah M. Livsey, her bother David, and two grandchildren Casey and Jason.
Carol lived a fulfilling life dedicating herself to her family, her students, and her passions. She was an avid reader and exchanged many books back and forth with her sister. She took her family to all the tourist destinations in California including buying tickets to the Rose Parade. She also loved crossword and jigsaw puzzles, spending time at their cabin in Big Bear, California, and her cherished memories of traveling in their motorhome from coast to coast and being a member of the California Southwinders. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will continue to shine through the countless lives she touched.
