I miss you Bobby!!! 3 years ago today you were taken away from me. Why?? Only God knows why.

I can believe it's a year already,  I miss Bubba,  
But you and Jimmy are together ❤.  I'm still in shock of both of you are gone. 

Can't believe it's already a year of your passing I am still in disbelief. You were such a good person and God sure does take the best first. You are missed 😢 💔. I wish we can go back into time when we hung out in the garage or your grandmas house. Those were the good old days. Rest in Paradise my friend. 

Bobby it was a pleasure knowing you and there will never be another person like you, you were a gentle giant kind, loving, funny, and most important you were family oriented that loved his family very much. You were always a good friend to me and I have many memories of us on Herbert that will last a lifetime. I wish I could have said goodbye you left too soon and I didn't get the chance to say I love you friend and I thank you. One thing I hold near and dear is your warm smile and that laugh of yours. I pray for your family especially your mom may God give her the strength to help her through this. Rest in Paradise now your dancing with the Angels and all our loved ones. Please say hi to your grandma, dad, my mom, my sister and Tommy and Titi I know you are celebrating 🍾 with them what a reunion. Until we meet again my childhood friend and family forever.

Bobby always greeted me with a big smile, a "hello uncle," and a strong hug. He was a big man with a big heart, but with a gentle and loving spirit. He touched all our lives, and will live forever in our memories. Our pain is comforted by God's promise that Bobby "will dwell in the house of the lord forever." Amen.

Bubba was a great storyteller. He told stories with his eyes and his hands. He used to say “Trip out, Holmes,” and then launch into a story. When he really got into it, sweat would accumulate on his cheeks. Bubba was full of love. He loved is family and his friends, and he loved East L.A. 

When Bubba moved to Berkeley, he took some of East L.A with him. He showed up wearing Cortez Nikes, Dickies pants cut into shorts, a white t-shirt, and white socks pulled up to his knees. He eventually grew out his hair and wore jeans and a brown vest. My friends loved him, and our place was the place to be because Bubba was there, and everyone wanted to hang out and talk to Bubba.
 
We lived in three different apartments in Berkeley, me in the bedroom and Bubba in the living room. I used to get home from class, and Bubba would have Jimi Hendrix or Led Zeppelin on, a cigarette in his mouth, and a feather duster in his hand cleaning everything on his shelves. We got Bubba an electric guitar and some headphones, and he used to play into the night.

When he moved back to L.A., I used to call to talk to him and check in on him and the rest of the family. When I called him, I knew two things were going to happen. We would laugh about old times, and Bubba was going to say “I love you” to me. Those are two of the most important things we can experience in our daily lives. To laugh is to live, and to hear someone tell you how important you are to them can heal wounds you didn’t even know you had. Bubba would say “I love you and tell your dad I love him and tell your mom I love her and tell Helen (my wife) I love her and tell your boys I love them.” 

I am sad I won’t be able to call him anymore and laugh and hear him laugh, but I am so happy for the times we had and the memories we created. Our camping trip, our Reno adventure and all the times in between made my life better and more memorable. Thanks, Bubba! I love you!

I feel like I have so much to say. I wish I had one more chance to sit next to you and have the longest conversation ever. Every time I think of you I will always remember your smile, your laughter. Even trough tough times we always laughed together. I will never forget us growing up together riding our bikes till our parents would yell at us to get inside cause it was late. Watching you play with your toys as a kid always amazed me with those special sound effects you would make. As we grew older we learned that family was the most important thing and me and you were family. Thank you for always checking on me to see how me and my family were doing. I will miss those text messages and phone calls from you saying we gotta get together. My heart is heavy and my eyes are filled with tears but I know you wouldn’t want me to cry, so I stay strong just like you would want me too. I will miss you dearly and every time I look up to the sky and smile, just know that it will be cause I’m thinking of you. I will never forget you and you will forever be in our hearts. Rest In Peace Bobby Cantu (aka) Bubba.💔

My Dear Uncle Bubba. From growing up I just always remember you being there. When I was a little kid introducing me to delicious foods, you telling me all the ghost stories of the old house on Herbert. Thank you for the best 4th of July firework show I could've ever wished to experience as a lil kid. Us bumping Dr. Dre in your lil eclipse going to pick up burgers. That clean pad with the pool for those summers I got to enjoy swimming all day. Those long nights staying up just talking with me, putting me on game showing me all the movies from yours and Jimbos movie collection, showing me tv shows like Seinfeld. Those talks outside while you smoke your cigarettes. Picking me up from the bus station when id get introuble at home. Just being there to talk. Your smile, your laugh, the way you'd use your words, your funny jokes will stick with me forever. Thanks for being a great uncle for me growing up. Till we meet again.
