Betty Jackman, a beacon of love and generosity, passed away peacefully in her home on August 16, 2024, after a brief and unexpected battle with small cell cancer. She was surrounded by family and loved ones. She was 83 years old.
Born on April 4, 1941, Betty lived a life filled with goodness, touching countless lives through her kind and selfless actions. Betty spent her days doing thoughtful things for others, whether it was buying gifts, baking cookies, or caring for her late husband or grandchildren. She never missed a birthday and was known for her incredible gift-giving. A skilled baker, Betty created and decorated beautiful cakes for family celebrations. Her generous spirit knew no bounds, and she found joy in making others feel special and loved.
A dedicated kindergarten teacher for over 40 years, Betty knew from a young age that teaching was her calling. Despite being encouraged to pursue other careers, she never wavered in her dream of becoming a teacher. Her love for children was evident from an early age, and she became an exceptional teacher, beloved by her students and colleagues alike. In addition to teaching kindergarten, Betty was a devoted Sunday school teacher, creating elaborate handouts and providing snacks each week. Her commitment to her faith and her students was unwavering, and she continued teaching Sunday school until her passing.
Betty always had her priorities straight, placing people above all else. She believed that relationships were more important than money or possessions, and she lived by that belief every day. An avid sewer, she made bibs for every new baby, countless Christmas ornaments, and sequin calendars each year, all of which were cherished by those who received them.
Betty leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who loved her. She was dearly loved by her friends, her late husband, Martin, her three children, Richard, Elizabeth, and Gina, her stepson, Marshall, 13 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Betty made everyone’s life a little better with her kindness, and she will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
