Amelia was born to her parents, Alberto and Amelia Sandoval on March 29, 1925 and passed away on January 21, 2025. She was the last of eight siblings who went to be with the Lord. Amelia was a very active woman who wasn’t afraid to try something new. She was a go-getter for sure! Especially when she was determined to drive and convinced her sister Helen to learn also.Amelia attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Los Angeles and was one of the top in track which was unusual for a Mexican-American woman during that time. A few years later, she worked at a company called DuraSteel where she met the love of her life, Benito Jauriqui. They were married for 66 years before Benito‘s passing in 2012. They had five children, Daniel, Jesus, Manuel AKA (Vic) , Sylvia and Theresa. They also had five grandchildren Veronica, Natalie, Matthew, Christian,and Alexis. They also had one great grandson, Benjamin. Amelia was the matriarch of her family. She worked as a teacher’s aide for the Los Angeles Unified School District for 25 years, which she loved until she finally decided to retire. There after retiring, she stayed active by taking classes in jewelry making and cake decorating. Amelia enjoyed shopping, reading, painting her house, and crafting. She loved to watch the News. Her favorite TV shows were Mama’s Family, The Golden Girls, Law & Order, and Forensic Files. She would always enjoy to tell her family what the last episode was all about. Amelia was a woman of God who volunteered in the church nursery. She read her Bible every day. She worked hard to make sure her family were also believers. She lived a long & fruitful life..she was deeply loved and will be missed by many.
