Charly Chun-Ming Kao is a devoted husband, loving father, cherished sibling, and devout Christian, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025 at the age of 89. Born on October 13, 1935 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, he was survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean Chin-Hui Kao, 4 children (Samuel, Edward, John, and Marie) and their spouses (Jessica, Cecilia, Sherry, and Matthew) and 9 grandchildren (Derek/Denise, Katrina, Karissa/Timothy/Krystal, and Natalie/Joseph/Emily).
An avid outdoorsman, Charly found joy in fishing and engaging in spirited ping pong matches. Among the family’s most treasured memories are the times spent together during “family pitting,” where he would roast chicken wrapped in clay, slow-cooked in an underground fire pit—a tradition that highlighted his love for both culinary arts and family bonding.
His deep-seated faith guided him throughout his life, and he was an active member of South Bay Taiwanese Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder, reflecting his commitment to his Christian beliefs. His love of music lead him to serve the church family by archiving the choir’s Sunday worship.
Encouraged by his late younger siblings (Daniel and Jane), Charly made the courageous decision to relocate his family to the United States. He sought to provide his children with better life and abundant opportunities, a testament to his foresight and paternal devotion.
Charly’s legacy is one of love, faith, and resilience. He leaves behind a family rooted in the values he cherished and a community enriched by his presence. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
