Rainbow Chapel at Rose Hills

Built in 1942, Rainbow Chapel is Rose Hills’ first dedicated chapel. Originally called Rose Chapel, the California Mission-style building is adjacent to El Portal de la Paz mausoleum in the oldest part of Rose Hills Memorial Park. Large windows fill the chapel with natural light during the day and provide a stunning view of El Portal de la Paz's beautiful cremation garden and fountain imported from Italy.

Rainbow Chapel was originally designed to serve families who chose entombment in El Portal de la Paz or burial in the older parts of the cemetery. Today, it is available to all Rose Hills families. The chapel seats 68 guests, making it a perfect choice for those planning an intimate funeral or memorial service.

About

El Portal de la Paz Mausoleum

El Portal de la Paz means Gateway of Peace. The mausoleum was the second building constructed at Rose Hills Memorial Park. Its initial phase opened in 1930; the last extension was completed in 1969. The California Mission-style structure is a site to behold, with an abundance of stained glass and gorgeous hand-painted ceilings. El Portal de la Paz is the final resting place of many of the founders of Rose Hills, including Augustus Gregg and his son, John, as well as several California dignitaries.
