SkyRose Chapel Foundation

SkyRose Chapel Foundation was established by Rose Hills in 1997 as a meaningful way to support local, non-profit organizations within the communities that it serves.

 

The Foundation is supported with donations collected at Rose Hills’ community events, a percentage of SkyRose Chapel’s funeral usage fees, payment for select filming projects within Rose Hills Memorial Park and private donations. All Foundation administration fees are covered by Rose Hills, as well.

 

Qualifications and Program Limitations
SkyRose Chapel Foundation supports qualified, tax-exempt, charitable organizations benefiting Los Angeles and Orange counties. The number of organizations supported each year is dependent upon the availability of contribution funds. The guidelines and procedures below are subject to modification by the SkyRose Foundation Board of Directors at any time.

 

Selection Guidelines – preferential attention is given to organizations with:
• A history of reliably achieving results
• Programs that have the potential to make a measurable impact
• Programs consistent with the Foundation’s identified areas of emphasis (education, social services, health care)
• Programs that benefit the areas surrounding Rose Hills
• Programs that benefit many people, even with a limited contribution

 

Disqualifications – contributions will not be distributed:
• For propagandizing, influencing legislation and/or elections or promoting voter registration
• To political candidates and campaigns, or to organizations that engage in political activities
• To organizations that promote a specific religious doctrine
• To individuals (except as permitted by the IRS)
• To government agencies
• As an endowment

Your request must include:
• A completed application (pdf)
• The purpose and history of your organization
• A brief outline of how the funds will be used
• The specific amount of funds being requested (up to $5,000)
• The geographic area and demographic to be served
• List of Board of Directors members
• Current operating budget
• IRS exemption letter
• IRS Form 990-PF
• Funding history

 

If the initial review of the request indicates a good match with the Foundation’s interests and current funding availability, the applicant will be notified in writing.
